A beautiful fireball of a cactus. This mamillaria is unusual because it has less chlorophyll and displays vivid yellow-orange-red colouration when grown in bright light.
Pot diameter is 2.5in/6cm.
Mammillaria care: follow general instructions on the care page.
Water needs: low
Additional notes for this species: the mother plant was labelled mammillaria beneckei, but this may not be accurate. Offsets as it grows. Lower chlorophyll in this particular clone results in more colour, but slower growth.
Growth rate: slow
Cold hardy: no
Origin: native to Mexico
Plant will be shipped bare root. The plant in the photo is the plant you will receive. Photos are taken in natural sunlight.
In spring, many photos are taken of plants that have been held in cool storage for 1 – 2 months, which slows growth and can intensify colours in some varieties. When moved/planted back in warmer growing conditions (such as indoors), colours may soften or shift as the plant resumes active growth. Cool-storage photos are always noted on product listings.
Partial Cristate
These unique plants show a mix of crested and normal growth. Growth may change over time as the plant matures, becoming more or less crested. Each plant develops its own structure. The unpredictable growth pattern is part of their appeal.
